GAME DAY EDITION: As you may well know, the Bullsnakes have had a three-week layover between games. The Snakes have had a couple of opportunities that have fallen through since the disappointing loss in Las Vegas against the Royals. But now the tides have turned and we are about to get rolling again!

Today is a crucial match-up against the OC Novastars at the MAC, the beloved home court of the Bullsnakes. The OC Novastars bring a solid team that has been consistently ranked in the ABA’s power rankings.

This season the Novastars have been as high as No. 8 in the rankings. The Bullsnakes could be facing their toughest opponent this season. With a victory, the Bullsnakes can get back on the winning side and start building a resume for the ABA Playoffs starting in March.

Alot has happened these past few weeks. We’ve seen Jordan Jones move on to the Mexican pro league where he’s doing well right out the gate. Now we’ll have Blake Mitchem making his debut as a Bullsnake. Blake will add another athletic big man to the roster which should bring the Snakes more versatility.

Today’s game brings the beginning of a very busy February with many games coming up on the schedule. The Snakes have an opportunity to really get on another win streak like they had in December. The playoffs are the ultimate goal where anything can happen.

One positive aspect of the layover has been the time to rest and heal from nagging minor injuries that occur in such a physical fast paced environment. The Snakes are healed up and showing a lot of energy in these previous practices.

Bullsnakes guard Jared Fuller on the long layover “It’s all mental, we’ve got to keep playing sharp and communicating as a team on and off the court.” Jared said “Just stay together as a team and be ready for this Saturday.”

We’ll have Devon Williams back in action along with Derius Hegwood who has been looking great in practice. Lamar Morinia has been very steady and the rest of the Snakes look ready to get back into season mode.

Head Coach Bb Rico on Saturday’s game. “The players are anxious, I’m anxious to test ourselves against a real professional team.” Rico said “I’m anticipating us running and getting our game out.”

The major key for today’s game will be how the Bullsnakes come out at the opening tip-off. The Snakes will try to avoid coming out flat. Will the jitters be a factor today after such a long layover?

The ABA is a league of runs. How will the Bullsnakes handle the runs that the Novastars invariably throw at them? Those questions and many more will be answered tonight.

The excitement should be high in the MAC as we begin the push towards the playoffs. Game time is at 6 p.m.

Today’s game will be on Facebook live on our page. In other news, Las Cruces will be a new member of the ABA starting next season. There’s also the possibility of a El Paso team joining the league. We look forward to these developments as potential rivalries could blossom.

The Bullsnakes plan to hold many events this summer as we plan for next season to be even more exciting. We love your support.
